DUTY Flyer and Package Design
Bay Cha is a boba milk tea supplier offered at the restaurant Saucy Asian. To promote it, they needed an eye-catching flyer that effectively showcased their product. However, the provided boba tea photo was positioned off-center and cropped at the edges, making it difficult to properly highlight the drink. My challenge was to create a visually appealing design that maximized the product’s visibility and appeal.
The provided boba tea photo is cropped at the edges and positioned off-center, making it challenging to fully showcase the drink's appeal.
To enhance the appeal of the boba tea photo in the flyer, I created three design variations. I experimented with scaling the image and incorporating bold typography to improve its visual balance within the layout.
In this version, I illustrated a custom cut-out shape around the boba tea cup, transforming the cropped photo into a dynamic design element. To enhance the visual impact, I created two variations—one with black strokes and one with white strokes. The white strokes added more depth and energy to the design, making it feel more dynamic compared to the black strokes, which appeared more monotonous on the flyer. Additionally, using white strokes ensured that the outline wasn’t overly distracting, allowing the audience to focus on reading the content. This approach not only improved the composition but also introduced a bold, street-style aesthetic that perfectly aligned with Saucy Asian’s brand. My client favored this version as it effectively captured the brand’s energy and made the promotion visually striking.
Bay Cha also sells boba ingredient kits, including pre-made milk tea bottles. However, the original bottles only featured a company logo sticker, lacking essential details such as the tea introduction, amount, ingredients, nutrition facts, bar code and a "Best By" date. The challenge was to design a bottle label that effectively incorporated all necessary information while maintaining a visually appealing and well-organized layout within a limited space.
I designed a clear and well-structured label for Bay Cha’s pre-made milk tea bottles, ensuring all essential information—such as ingredients and the 'Best By' date—was easily readable. By carefully selecting the right font sizes and establishing a strong typographic hierarchy, I created a layout that balanced clarity, functionality, and brand aesthetics, making the label both informative and visually appealing.
